Subtraction By Taking Away Less Than 5
Subtraction by taking away means we will not count those objects in the first box that are in second box and place them in the third box.
In the figure below first box has 3 rats and second box has 1 rat and by taking away 1 rat present in second box from first box we get 2 rats in third box.
So we can say that
3 rats take away 1 we are left with 2 rats
Similarly
4 cats take away 3 we are left with 1 cat
In the figure below first box has 4 cats and second box has 3 cats and by taking away 3 cats present in second box from first box we get 1 cat in third box.
